NEW FELLOWSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR RESEARCHERS FROM BRAZIL, INDIA AND SOUTH AFRICA
The Wellcome Trust is expanding the fellowship program of the Consortium for History of Science, Technology, and Medicine to support fellowships for scholars from Brazil, India, and South Africa. A member of the Consortium, the Rockefeller Archive Center is a rich archival repository for the study of the role of foundations and nonprofits in a wide array of fields in these countries. Areas of our subject strengths include public health, medicine, scientific research, the growth of the social sciences in academic institutions, and the role of these disciplines for public policy in education, agriculture, population, economics, and health systems (among others.) Scholars who conduct research at RAC from these countries will find that our collections also document the development of the Global South, the impact of transnational intellectual networks, and the work of NGOs. RESEARCH GRANTS THROUGH THE CONSORTIUM FOR HISTORY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND MEDICINE
Research grants to use the collections of Rockefeller Archive Center are now available through its participation in the Consortium for History of Science, Technology, and Medicine
The Rockefeller Archive Center has joined the Consortium for History of Science, Technology, and Medicine. Founded in 2007 with grants from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the National Science Foundation, the Consortium promotes public and scholarly understanding of the multitude of ways in which science, technology, and medicine shape our lives. It hosts both scholarly and public events on the history of science, medicine and technology. Since its inception, the Consortium has established a fellowship program offering support for research across the scholarly collections of the consortium, created an online search capability which has opened up access to the special collections of the consortium, and has set up and now maintains what has become the comprehensive calendar for all regional events in the history of these fields. As many of the collections of the Rockefeller Archive Center document large sweeps of the twentieth- and twenty-first century development of science, medicine, technology, and the social sciences, we encourage scholars to learn more about the Consortium, www.chstm.org, and its fellowship programs, www.pachs.net/fellowships.
